This is the classic pendant of the southwest. It was made by the artist known as Winter Hawk. This Lost Wax Sterling Silver pendant features the playful image of the flute-playing hunchback Kokopelli.
This curvaceous Sterling Silver pendant is full of traditional designs. Suspended from a complimentary chain, it is 1-7/8" long. Labeled Sterling. Not Indian made.
Among the Hopis he is a Flute Player only when he borrows a flute to dance. Usually he appears in the Mixed Kachina Dances or sometimes in a Night Dance. Despite these relatively minor appearances, he is thought of as a seducer of girls, a bringer of babies, a tutelary of hunting, and an excellent subject for the carving of kachina dolls, and jewelry.
